About Chrysalis Academy 

Chrysalis Academy is an Arizona Department of Education approved private school for children with ASD and related disorders. We serve over 50 students and employ over 50 staff members. More than 12 different school districts contract with Chrysalis Academy to provide education to students in those districts.

Our mission is to provide educational services to individuals with social, language and behavioral deficits. To accomplish our mission, Chrysalis Academy will strive to:

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains staff and student schedules
  • Record attendance daily and report attendance record monthly to director of operations on the last day of every month
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct current student records and files as required by law and administration regulation
  • Assists in conducting any assessments
  • Schedule and conduct IEP meetings
  • Develop present levels, IEP goals and objectives, and transition plans and present to special education director 3 days in advance
  • Report quarterly progress and report to districts, parents and special education director on the corresponding due dates
  • Complete all district requirements on time, including but not limited to MIPPS billing
  • Take, track, collect and interpret data
  • Must conduct a weekly afterschool staff meeting, that overviews staff and student expectations, review of goals, student behavior plans and behavior protocols, review collected data with staff.
  • Must include a director or specialist in weekly afterschool staff meeting
  • Provide training and coaching experiences to staff based on the needs for classroom and individual students
  • Plan a monthly guide of lesson plans and provide a monthly draft to directors
  • Create a weekly lesson plan describing learning experiences; weekly lesson plans should correlate with student objectives from IEP and curriculum map, course guide
  • Creates a classroom environment that promotes individual and group learning that is appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  • Creates educational experiences that provide each student with the opportunity to develop his/her potential in areas of self-help, self-advocacy, independent living, positive self-image, decision-making, social skills, and other life skills
  • Must allocate 3 hours of afterschool preparation time for lesson plans, development of IEPs, curriculum maps, classroom materials, classroom organization, update student data books, and meetings with parents, specialists, district representatives and directors
  • Communicates concerns, ideas, and provides updates with parents, directors, and specialists on a regular basis in a positive, ethical, professional and timely manner
  • Maintain and improve professional competence
  • Receive regular training and coaching until all levels are complete
  • Attend any trainings requires by Arizona Department of Education and directors
  • Conduct state required assessments and submit information to designated authority
  • Complete staff performance reviews per directors
  • Maintain and implement attendance policies with classroom staff
  • Perform routine physical requirements to fulfill duties in the classroom; PE, Yoga, and community outings
  • Provide crisis intervention
  • Maintains clean and organized classrooms on a daily basis
  • Act in a manner consistent with Learn/Chrysalis Academy’s mission, values, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and teaching experience preferred
  • Valid State of Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card must be current
  • Must be able to lift a student over 40 lbs. and perform a two person lift for students over 40 lbs.
  • Any of the following:
    • Valid State of Arizona Special Education Certification (Cross Categorical, Mild/Moderate, or Moderate/Severe)
    • Valid State of Arizona Teaching Intern Certificate
